I come here often to do school work and relax with a cup o' tea. The staff always makes me feel at home and the service is excellent! It's special to have this kind of community feel.. thanks for being here!

Well, I wanted to love this place. We are new in town and stopped by this morning. I ordered my drink and was told "absolutely! No problem!" when I asked for heavy cream in my drink.  We waited...and waited. My "for here" drink came in a to-go cup and there was no heavy cream to be seen. I asked for the cream and was told they don't have any in a matter-of-fact way. I said, "but that's what I ordered and you said 'no problem'." I was offered hemp milk and almond milk. No offer to make a new drink entirely or refund my money. I got plenty of looks like I was the one in the wrong. They then called my friends drink which was made "for here" so now I get to sit here, coffee-less waiting for my friend to finish hers. Not a great first impression, but I'm gathering they don't care. No skin off their back.

Also, good luck if you use the bathroom.

I'm SUPER IMPRESSED at all categories I usually think of while reviewing a cafe business!!

I always love the way some people give their full attention & commitment to their job, whatever the type of work might be. Here, the girl who served our group was humble , extremely well mannered, single handed service to the entire cafe house. I wish I know her name to give a big shout out on yelp for her. Appreciate her sincerity!

About beverages we had - Cafe Latte, Cafe Mocha & Hot Cocoa, all tasted YUM! Our hot drinks had cute cafe art and satisfied portion sizes to drink in house. Oh hey! I was lucky to grab their last Chocolate croissant for the day. It was huge & most delicious one I ever had. I strongly recommend this for all those sweet addicts like me.

Can't get away without mentioning about Brew's simple yet elegant ambience. Counter area was large enough to hold lines. Menu board was clear with price tags. There was a couch to relax, tables of 2's & 4's with some amazing wall frames in the backdrop. Btw, did y'all check out those beautiful hand made sketches of game of thrones characters like Tyrian's and Danny's (Daenarys) at the entrance area diagonally opposite to the menu board??!! Do check out!! They're great!!

Overall, it was such a pleasure to bring my family here. Everyone loved the whole experience. BREW will be remembered by all of us unanimously.

Will be back whenever I get a chance again!!

    Coffee Confidential - Spring 2017
    A Pourover Paradise?

It had been 48 hours since my last cup of good coffee. Two states ago, while passing through Walla Walla, Washington. While parts of Oregon do have amazing coffee, the eastern, more remote part of the state does not, especially when you are camping in the wilderness. Cups of bagged rooiboos tea will only get you so far, but I wasn't about the defile the 3rd wave coffee roasting gods by getting convenience store coffee or - what is worse - Starbucks.

And as pretty as Burney Falls was the day before, by the time I reached the I-5 corridor at Redding, I was ready to rejoin civilization with a single-origin pourover and a from scratch breakfast baked good, something hearty and healthy and not made in a food factory, but in small batches in someone's kitchen.

I left the campground early, before most of the others were even awake, forgoing food or drink in favor of finding something in Redding that would keep me happy during the long miles of highway that still separated me from my Santa Cruz Mountains home.

Brew Craft Coffee came through like a champion. I mean, who expects syphon service in Redding? I certainly did not. Or top-flight roasted coffee from Ashland, Oregon's Noble Coffee? Or locally made "paleo" cookies prepared with raw sunflower seeds, dried cherries, and dark chocolate?

Needless to say, Brew's offerings of coffee and baked goods left my memories of the coffee wastelands of the Oregon Outback far, far behind. I settled on a Bali pourover and paleo cookie (more of a seedy, crumbly, GF pancake, really) for here, and I paid ahead of time for a 12oz. French Press Ethiopian Sidamo to go.

Fast, free wifi allowed me to get caught up on pressing matters left behind for a few days, while the artwork in Brew (the owner, whose name really is Mr. Bean, is an art gallery operator) kept me in good spirits as I prepared for the next few hours of interstate highway hell (I'm talking to you, Vacaville!).

Craft coffee and local baked goods served in an art-filled, yet casual setting? Pourovers and syphon service and French Press single-origin Sidamo to go? Can this possibly be Redding, California?

Pick the red pill, Neo. Not the blue one. You don't want to return to the Matrix. You can handle the truth!

The truth is that third wave coffee exists everywhere. Well, not everywhere. Not in the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness. Not in Burns, Oregon. Not in Alturas, California. Or Adin, or Nubieber, or Fall River Mills.

But once you reach Redding, you're good to go. Syphon-service fanatics, paleo cookies aficionados, single-origin pourover activists, you have found your happy place!
